The book reads almost like a screen play, each chapter in itself an episode in frat boy antics, drinking, sexual escapades. The redeeming values of the book are compassion and the bonds of friendship (although in several chapters the bonds of friendship are tested). Parts of the book can be a bit taxing, but if the reader is interested in what goes on in a fraternity, this is the book to read.

Life in a Fraternity

The book Fraternity tells a story about a group of friends who pledge together in a fraternity. The book is interjected with humor and antics that go on within the fraternity, of course there is a lot of drinking and sexual escapades. The book can be taxing but over all is entertaining. Even though the book is "fiction" it is obvious it is based on true events. Despite the debauchery, the book attempts to develop a morality by showing the reader that there is more to frat life than just drinking and womanizing. The importance and value of "trust" plays an important role.
"This is about trust, man . . . we have to be able to trust each other. Don't you people understand that? Fuck man, if you don't understand that, " his voice paused, his eyes fluttered and started to turn red, "this fraternity has failed you. (p 101).
Anyone who has ever been in a fraternity will understand the books dynamics. The book expands past graduation and follows the central character "whiteberry" in his successes and failures but even in the good and bad times the experience and the memories of fraternal life are referenced. Through the pages the reader also gains an understanding of how this particular fraternity came to be at the college and what ultimately happened to it. For anyone who collects fraternity glasses and memorabilia, this book is a perfect addition.
