The bright colourful pictures in Fairy Days complement the brisk poems and stories perfectly.   In the "Pet Dragon" the princess wants a brave husband, and has her father set prospective husband the task of saving her from the dragon.    It is a twist on an old story but would delight any child.

There are familiar nursery rhymes like "Sing a song of sixpence" and "Rub-a-dub-dub" and they are illustrated by a number of illustrators from the time including Peter Fraser and E.Lems.

The book includes a couple of pages of puzzles and others that could be used for counting or identifying objects and behaviour.

A young child could return to this book many times and discover something new and rediscover something familiar each time.
