Organized by type, with clear, easy-to-follow instructions, the 23 projects included in this wonderful little book will delight not only children, but adults with an interest in folk art reproductions. The horse and wagon, rocking horse and rider, and the collection of jointed carousel animals, in particular, make attractive decorator pieces, and are fine additions to any country collection.

Most of the patterns are presented full scale, but a few require enlargement, and are reproduced on a grid, for convenience. (A large-format copy machine will save a lot of effort, if you have one available.) The tools and techniques are well suited to the beginning woodworker, and with very little effort and minimal skill, the charming end results will prove quite satisfying.

If you are a folk art enthusiast, or would just like to offer your child a non-electronic alternative to PlayStation and Nintendo, Sharon Pierce has the book for you.
