Journeys of Race, Color and Culture it seems to me speaks more clearly to the dynamic nature of Identity and Identity Threat, the potential for our shared understanding of the experience of race and racism, and the potential for equity, and inclusion than any other book I have read to date. The authors intelligently speak to the work dismantling racism as a continuum that we of distinct and different experiences interact along. JRCC serves to create awareness of where other and self are or may be working from. With Huntley, Moore, and Pierce's book we know where the comments that have us cringe, boil, flame or walk away come from. We are more able and more clear as to how to more gently or firmly engage in the work of dismantling racism from Journeys of Race, Color and Culture: From Racial Inequality to Equity and Inclusion. We are not fixed in our thinking, we are somewhere along the continuum of healing, hurting, and health. To reconcile we must see ourselves as we are seen and see as we have not seen. It is to have us advance and create a larger circle, a wider circle, that acknowledges the experience of self and other. We can learn to speak to the destructive dynamic of dominance and subordination. JRCC as a body of work stands on the shoulders of giants. Our vantage, our work, our service, our potential is so much greater with the reading of this book, Journeys fo Race, Color, and Culture: From Racial Inequality to Equity and Inclusion.
