This book contains the stories of 5 amazing individuals who share their stories of life as a refugee. Each one comes from a different geological area, and the reader will learn what life was life for them in their own corner of the world. The stories are heartbreaking, but each one of them found their way to America, and to freedom. Their struggles here were very real, but each one of them were resilient, and they each became great additions to our country. The refugees in these stories all ended up in Nebraska, and at the end of the book there is some really information on some of the groups who help the refugees upon their arrival. There is also a section that describes the refugee process, which shows how difficult it is to get from their circumstances to a place of safety. This book is so full of information on this topic, and it even includes a timeline from each represented country to show how refugees came to be, and why they want to leave their native lands. I highly recommend this book, if nothing else, it will show the reader how terrible life is for so many people in our world.
