a Literary Gem (2009-08-15)
I first heard of this novel when it was a mandatory read for a fiction class. Finding Robinson's work was the best thing that came from the class. This first novel is captivating, with the most gorgeous prose I've found from any modern author. The societal issues are real and alive and woven within the story without being preachy. The characters breathe on the pages. The prose is unhurried but doesn't drag. I've gone on to buy more of Robinson's work and will keep doing so. Highly recommended.
