Face your fears - step by step

I was lucky enough to be given a galley copy of this new book from the author's father, so I'm a bit biased. That disclaimer aside, this goes beyond a self-help, step by step to courage sort of book. Sweeney does a wonderful job of combining engaging stories of people overcoming their fears to do amazing things. He profiles about a dozen different people, and incorporates stories of his own fascinating transformation as well. After each story he dives into the neuroscience of why things happen with fear, courage and confidence and then how we can apply it in our lives. He has a series of great exercise that really got me thinking.
I've taken away three or four techniques that I use every week during times of stress or anxiety and have seen a change in my perspective. I've added equal amounts of confidence and curiosity to my career, and relationship with my girlfriend. She and I were both happy to see that four of the heroes Sweeney showcases in the book were women. Their stories are fascinating.
If you are looking to build more courage and confidence, and understand how fear works so that you can make it work for you this is a great read. It would be fun to listen to in an audio version during my commute, and I'll probably buy it when the audio version comes out.
