Students often think they know quite a bit about George Washington but they may not know that he was an excellent farmer who cared about the soil, new plants, composting, and even ordered the best books on farming from England so he could educate himself on the "modern techniques". This beautiful book contains excerpts from his diaries and letters, as well as a nice bibliography, and timeline. Recommended for students in grades 4-7.
