Publisher Synopsis
[..] a surreal book whose graphic brilliance includes arching caterpillars forming the letter B for butterfly, twisted twine for T and other clever mnemonics marrying shape with sound Children will look at it for hours. * New Statesman * a stunner * The Observer * Picture books are definitely not only for children - all ages will delight in this stunningly illustrated book which helps us to look at letters in unexpected ways; the words don't obviously match the letters, making you think. Exceptional and ingenious, Norman Messenger has transformed the alphabet into extraordinary objects in this visionary collection of flora, fauna and more. Not just capital letters either - lower case letters are cleverly juxtaposed to give thought-provoking illustrations. This is a Walker Studio book which will make a beautiful gift for any art-lover. Very clever. * Parents In Touch * Read more...

I think the book An Artist’s Alphabet was a well illustrated book. I like the pictures that were chosen to be with each letter of the alphabet. Most of the pictures I never would have thought of. It feels like everything fit together very well. The pictures were obvious enough that it didn’t take long to find what each one was. I think a lot of people would like the book if they read it. But I would have liked it better if there were words explaining each letter and where it is. (V.R. 5th Grade)
